Setting up a free blog account on WordPress is very simple. 
Open your browser and go to wordpress.com. You will find a sign up button. Click it.
On the next page 
there is a simple form as shown here. Fill in the information.
The first item is the hardest. You need to pick a web address for your blog. Many bloggers use their own name for this. Since this has to be unique you may need to make several tries. Only lower case letters and numerals are allowed. Be very careful! Check the spelling! Once you have committed, this is it!
In the next field, the form will suggest your blog name as the user name. You can change it. I suggest to use your own name (no spaces). You may, of course, use a “nom de plume”. This user name may be seen in your blog posts, when commenting, and other places.
In the next fields enter a good, strong password, twice. If your password is too weak you will see an error message.
Lastly enter your email address so WordPress can communicate with you.
Click Sign up and you have a blog account.
